Preview: A look at how God would like us to appear and represent Him in the world.
Scripture Reading: I Timothy 2:1-15
Memory Verse: I Timothy 2:11
1. When and how should we please the Lord? I Corinthians 10:31.
2. How only can we remain perfect before God? Isaiah 26:3.
3. How great should our love be for God? Matthew 22:37.
4. What is said in this verse of how women are to dress? I Timothy 2:9.
5. What did Adam and Eve see when they ate from the tree? How did they feel? What did God do to cover their nakedness? Genesis 3:7 & Genesis 3:21.
6. How should our garments be kept? Ecclesiastes 9:8.
7. How should women concern themselves with jewelry? Is God pleased with this adornment? I Timothy 2:9.
8. What was the change in Jacob’s house when he accepted the Lord? Genesis 35:2-5.
NOTE: Let us take close heed to God’s word and come before Him with clean clothes and be a clean example to others in deeds, dress, and manner of adorning. God is not pleased with dirt, either spiritually or temporally.
9. How will God deal with those in the Church who follow the ways and styles of the world in dressing? Isaiah 3:16-17.
10. What will God do for those who wear those adornments? Isaiah 3:18-19.
11. Does He include the jewelry they wear? How is the jewelry described? Isaiah 3:20-21.
12. What will men be doing at this time? Isaiah 3:25-26.
NOTE: The prophet Isaiah referred to the last days. We see much of this being fulfilled by church people. The apostle Paul spoke of the way women should dress. If we are God’s chosen people (the salt of the earth, and the light of the world) to carry the saving message to the world, then we (men and women) should dress very modestly. This necessitates laying aside the latest fashion and styles of the world.
13. How did Israel depart from the Lord? Hosea 2:13.
NOTE: Sinful men judge women by their dress. Christian women are respected for their godly appearance.
14. When Israel returned to God, what did they do with their apparel? Exodus 35:22.
15. What kind of adornments should God's people wear? I Peter 3:3-5.
NOTE: When a tree dies, the leaves drop off. In like manner, rings, necklaces, lipstick, and such things drop off of the individual when they die to sin. Amen.
