Preview: Our thoughts can make or break us. It is our duty to control our thoughts and reflect on that which is pure and good in the sight of God.

Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:4-9.

Memory Verse: Proverbs 23:7.

1. For what did David pray? Psalm 19:14.
2. What will we do when our lips are controlled by God? Psalm 51:15.
3. From where do our thoughts come? Matthew 15:19.
4. What will evil thoughts do for us? Matthew 15:20.
5. On what does a righteous man meditate? Psalm 1:2.
6. What is the result of right thinking? Psalm 1:3.
Note: What we think becomes a part of us just the same as what we eat becomes a part of us. No one rises higher, or sinks lower, than their thoughts.
7. Is it possible for the heart to be right and the mouth to speak wrong? Explain. Matthew 12:34-35.
8. What effect will our words have at the Day of Judgment? Matthew 12:36-37.

10. What can control our thoughts? II Corinthians 10:5.
11. What should our thoughts be on in all walks of life? Philippians 4:8.
Note: If we follow this rule, it will eliminate by-words and vulgar expressions from our lips. We will not use God’s name except to reverence Him. We will not be taking up or enjoying the idle gossip that is constantly circulating around in our communities, and we will not take up a reproach against our neighbor.
12. What was Paul’s advice to Timothy? I Timothy 4:14-15.
13. What are we commanded to give God? Matthew 22:37.
