Preview: Jesus has given us all an opportunity to come to Him and be cleansed of our guilty sins and be made clean for a new life of eternity with Him.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 24:33-41.

Memory Verse: Matthew 24:42.

1. What promise did Jesus give us so we may have hope for a future? John 14:1-3

2. What did Paul instruct us to do? Titus 2:11-14.

3. What did David believe about Christ’s return? Psalms 50:3-4.

Note: For every prophecy in the Bible of Christ’s birth on earth, there are eight concerning the second coming of Christ. His coming is mentioned in every book of the New Testament except Philemon.

4. How will Jesus return at His second coming? Will it be a literal or just a spiritual return? Acts 1:9-11.

5. How many people will see His return? Revelation 1:7.

Note: Every eye includes sinners and saints. There will be no one left in the dark, and all will know it is happening.

6. How else does the Bible describe His coming? Matthew 24:27.

7. Describe how audible His return will be? 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.

8. Who is coming with Jesus? Matthew 16:27.

9. How does the Bible further describe His coming? Matthew 24:30.

Note: Jesus first coming was a quiet event here on earth. His second coming will be a spectacle of power and great glory, loud and visible to all.

10. How secret will His second coming be? Matthew 24:23-27.

11. What will take place after He comes? I Thessalonians 4: 16-17, I Corinthians 15:51-53.

12. How will the lost react? Revelation 6:15-17.

13. How will the saved react? Isaiah 25:9.

Note: It is time to pick a side. If you are not with Him, you are against Him.

14. When is the right time to prepare for His coming? 2 Corinthians 6:2.

15. How does Jesus describe His second coming? What does it mean? Matthew 24:42-43.

Note: Comparing His coming as a thief breaking into a house does not mean He will come in secret. He is simply saying that a thief would not announce the day and time he would break into your house, so it will always be a surprise. If you are ready at all times, you will not be caught unaware and unprepared for His return.

16. What further counsel does He give us? Matthew 24:44.

Conclusion: Being ready for Jesus’ return means we love Him so much that we willingly follow His commandments, and are eager to spend eternity with Him.
