Preview: The role of prophecy in the Church.

Scripture Reading: II Peter 1:12-21.

Memory Verse: I Thessalonians 5:20.

1. Of what Bible truths were the Pharisees and Sadducees ignorant? Matthew 16:1-3.
Note: A human body without physical sight cannot be a leader; likewise, with the Church. It cannot lead men and women if it has no spiritual foresight (prophecy).
2. What is one of the most important of all Bible truths? II Peter 1:19.
Note: The prophecy is the eye of the Church. Without prophecy we would be in darkness.
3. What did Peter say about interpreting the prophecy? II Peter 1:20
4. Who will reveal it to all men? Amos 3:7.
Note: Prophecies were given to His servants. For the above reason, sinners of today are not able to unravel the mystery of prophecy.
5. What will the wicked do, and what will they know? Daniel 12:10.
6. What happens to a Church and its leaders if they do not have prophecy or teach the same? Matthew 15:14.
7. What was the prayer of Paul for the Church in regard to the gifts? I Corinthians 12:1-6.
8. What are the gifts that were given?  What is the most important? Why? I Corinthians 12:8-10.
Note: We have learned that prophecy is one of the gifts, and that it is a light unto the Church. It is like a light that shines in a dark place.
9. How does the Lord declare the future things for the Church? Isaiah 42:8-9.
10. How may we prosper? II Chronicles 20:20.
11. How were the Israelites brought out of Egypt and preserved? Hosea 12:13.
12. What happens to a congregation which does not have vision? Proverbs 29:18.
Note: Can you see that it is very important that we have vision and acquaint ourselves with the prophecies so that we may walk in the light of the Lord?
13. What Scripture did Peter use to stir up their minds? II Peter 3:1-2.
14. Has God promised that our young people should have any part in prophesying in the last days? Acts 2:17-18.
Note: We may know the true Church. God has not left us in darkness. The true Church will not only preach and teach prophecies, but we will have those among us that are gifted and able to prophecy, telling of the future things. They will not be quoting the sayings of men from newspapers, magazines and over the air. It will be “Thus saith the Lord.”
15. How may we have the spirit of prophecy? Revelation 19:10.
Note: Those that have the testimony of Jesus should be able to prophecy, as the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
16. What faith will those who escape the wrath of God in the last days possess? Revelation 14:12.
17. What religious faith will the Devil make war upon just before Jesus receives them? Revelation 12:17.
Note: Those that keep the Commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus have the spirit of prophecy. They are the true Church. Their old men will dream dreams. This will disturb the Devil, causing him to make war upon them. May God help us to rejoice that we are His people. We are a Church that is holding up all the gifts, praying for the gifts, and prophesying to the works of future things to come.
18. In which other manner does God reveal and give wisdom to His people? Job 33:15-16.
19. How will it affect the prayer of those that turn their ears from the Law? Proverbs 28:9.
Note: The prayers of those that dodge the Law or one of the Commandments of God will be an abomination. The Lord will not reveal His secrets to them.
