Preview: The story of the Israelites and Moses.

Scripture Reading: Acts 7:1-22.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 11:22.

1. How did the Egyptians treat the children of Israel after the death of Joseph? Exodus 1:14.
2. Did Stephen make any reference to the same fact? Acts 7:17-19.
Note: After Joseph was dead the new king, seeing the great prosperity of the Israelites, then resolved to oppress them. Perhaps there was no record kept of the greatness of Joseph, or it might have been that, because he was not an Egyptian, the record of his greatness may have been ignored.
3. Did the Israelites multiply and increase rapidly in the land of Egypt? Exodus 1:12.
4. Why should this have made the Egyptians afraid? Exodus 1:10.
5. What cruel device did Pharaoh decide on to destroy the male children? Exodus 1:15-17.
6. Who was Moses and what were the names of his parents? Numbers 26:58-59.
7. What plan did his mother adopt to spare his life? Exodus 2:1-3.
8. How did her design succeed? Exodus 2:5-10.
9. Who was the caretaker of this little boat? Exodus 2:4.
Note: The enemy was hard at work trying to destroy the “seed” (Christ). A decree was sent out by law stating that all the boy babies should be killed by throwing them into the river. God in His wise providence made a way of escape for this child. In the midst of this great slaughter, a place of safety in the King’s own house was provided for Moses. Indeed the Lord was on the job, and how unsearchable are His judgments and His ways.
10. Whom did Miriam fetch when the princess sought a nurse for the child? Exodus 2:7-9.
