Consecration: Part 2 of 2

Preview: This is the second part of a two-part lesson of the same name. Remember that consecration means set apart for service to God.


Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:14-29.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 13:16.

1. How can we be assured of our salvation when we abide in Christ according to the foregoing Scriptures?
2. What was required for man’s consecration under the first covenant? Hebrews 9:1-10.
3. What made the difference in the new covenant? Hebrews 9:11-17.
Note: So, we find that because Christ became the sacrifice for our sin, we now are required to offer ourselves daily as living sacrifices; consecrated (set apart) for God’s service.
4. What else is promised through this new covenant? Hebrews 10:16-17.
5. What assurance do we have of our salvation? Hebrews 10:18-23.
Note: It is not how we feel that makes the difference; it is knowing God is faithful to His promise. Our part is to trust and obey.
6. What else is required of those who are consecrated? Hebrews 10:24-25.
7. Why is it essential for us to remain faithful? Hebrews 10:26-27, Hebrews 10:31.
8. What else is required for God’s consecrated people? Hebrews 10:35-39.
Note: Once our lives have been dedicated to God there is no turning back. Regardless of the circumstances we must remain faithful through patience and obedience.
9. What perfect example of consecration did Christ set? Matthew 20:27-28.
10. What spirit of consecration was seen in our Savior? Philippians 2:6-8 & Luke 22:27.
11. What should be our attitude? Philippians 2:5-7.
12. What will be the result? Philippians 2:1-4, Philippians 2:13-15.
Note: When the mind of Christ is the mind that is in us, we will be able to turn the other cheek. To return good for evil, pray for and love our enemy. We will be willing to sacrifice our comforts to serve our fellowman. Let us pray always for the mind of Christ.
13. How did Peter exhort God’s consecrated people? I Peter 2:1-5, I Peter 2:9, I Peter 2:11-12.
14. What will be our attitude toward authority when we are set aside for God’s service? I Peter 2:13-20.
15. Who set this example for us? I Peter 2:21-25.
16. What takes place in our lives when we are consecrated to God? I Corinthians 6:15-20.
Note: We cannot practice sin and be consecrated to God. We do not belong to ourselves. We have been bought with the highest price ever paid for anything: The precious blood of Jesus. We cannot do whatever we choose to do with our bodies or our lives and expect to be in God’s Kingdom.
17. What invitation has Christ extended to all? Matthew 11:27-30.
18. What sacrifice must we make to do this? Luke 14:33.
19. What is the reward if we do? Revelation 22:14.
20. What results if we do not? Revelation 22:15 & I Corinthians 6:9-10.
Note: God made the way. He gave the invitation, but the choice is ours to make. How can we afford to neglect so great a salvation?
