Preview: This is the second of a three-part lesson of the same name.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 51:1-13.

Memory Verse: Psalm 77:1.

1. How completely did David confess his sin and seek forgiveness according to the foregoing Scriptures?
2. How did God react to David’s confession? Psalm 32:5-8 & Psalm 40:1-5.
3. What should our attitude be when we are overtaken in a fault? Galatians 6:1-2.
4. What was the father’s reaction when his wayward son returned home? Luke 15:20-24.
5. What did God do with Hezekiah’s sins? Isaiah 38:17.
6. Must we make this connection with God in this life? Isaiah 38:18-19.
Note: Words cannot express the love and goodness of our God. After Hezekiah faced death, he realized how precious life was. Death and judgment are coming for all, but today is the day of salvation; now may be the last chance we have to make things right with God.
7. What did Solomon say about the judgment of God? Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 & Ecclesiastes 12:14.
8. Is God’s forgiveness conditional? Matthew 6:12, Matthew 6:14-15.
Note: We cannot understand or trust God’s forgiveness for us until we learn to forgive others.
9. Did Paul affirm our need to forgive others as we ourselves are forgiven? Ephesians 4:31-32.
10. How does the law of the Lord enable us to do this? Psalm 119:165.
Note: The more love we have for God and His laws the easier it is to overlook and forgive all offences and offenders. Confession and forgiveness are essential to our salvation.
