Preview: Basic rules for a peaceful and happy family life have been provided throughout the Bible. Knowing and following these rules is rewarding for the entire family and a great example to all who witness it in action. This is the second part of a two-part lesson on this subject.


Scripture Reading: Titus 2:1-6.

Memory Verse: Proverbs 22:6.

1. Why was Abraham chosen to be a blessing to all nations? Genesis 18:18-19.
2. Was Abraham’s own life an example of obedience? Genesis 12:1-5 & Genesis 22:1-3.
3. How important is a right example in teaching children? I Timothy 4:11-12, II Timothy 3:10-14 & II Timothy 1:5.
Note: Children become confused when we tell them one standard of conduct while we practice another. The best teaching is not by telling; it’s by example.
4. At what age should children be allowed to do as they choose in our homes? I Samuel 2:12, I Samuel 2:22-25, I Samuel 3:11-14 & I Samuel 4:15-18. Compare Eli’s family with Abraham’s.
5. What is God’s order for family living? Ephesians 5:22-25, Ephesians 5:28 & Ephesians 5:33.
6. What happens when His blueprint is not followed in the home? Isaiah 3:4-5, Isaiah 3:12, Isaiah 3:16-17, Hosea 4:1-2 & Hosea 4:6.
7. Is it possible for parents to expect too much too soon from their children? I Corinthians 13:11 & Proverbs 22:15.
8. What did Christ say about the parent-child relationship in the last days? Mark 13:12.
9. What happens if we fail to follow God’s plan for family living? Galatians 6:7.
10. What is promised when we do follow God’s blueprint? Proverbs 22:6.
