Armor of God - The Sword of the Spirit: Part 12 of 13

Preview: This is part twelve in a thirteen-part series entitled: ARMOR OF GOD.


Scripture Reading: John 1:1-18.

Memory Verse: Ephesians 6:17.

1. Who is the sword of the Spirit according to the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse?
2. What did Jesus promise His people when He was about to depart? John 14:12-17.
3. How is the Word compared to a two-edged sword? Hebrews 4:12.
Note: There is no doubt that the Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. Just as a literal sword is no use until it is in the hand of a warrior, so also must the Word of God be administered by the Holy Spirit.
4. Did Jesus declare Himself to be the truth? John 14:6.
5. What did He say will take place when we have the Holy Spirit? John 15:26-27 & John 16:13-14.
6. How did Paul describe the importance of the Word (the Gospel of Christ)? Romans 1:16.
7. How did Paul say that this Word is administered? I Thessalonians 1:4-6.
8. Did he acknowledge his need for prayer so that the Holy Spirit would be in charge of His message? Ephesians 6:17-20.
9. Did Peter find it necessary to have the Holy Spirit in order to preach the Word? Acts 4:8-13, Acts 4:23-24, Acts 4:29-31.
Note: It is impossible to rightly divide the Word of God without the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth. Just as the body without the breath is dead, so also is the Word without the Spirit, which makes it live.
