Preview: The Merriam-Webster definition of pure is: unmixed with any other matter; free from dust, dirt, or taint; containing nothing that does not properly belong.
Maintaining our bodies and minds as pure vessels for the Lord is part of our duty to Him. This is part one of a two-part lesson on this subject.
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 5:1-12.

1. Discuss the message in the Scripture Reading. Ephesians 5:1-12.
2. What did Christ say of the pure in heart? Matthew 5:8.
3. What did Christ declare to be a violation of the seventh Commandment? Matthew 5:27-28.
4. What were Paul’s instructions concerning purity? I Timothy 5:22, II Timothy 2:22.
5. To whom are all things pure? Titus 1:15.
6. What example did Joseph set when tempted? Genesis 39:7-12.
7. What are the people of God warned against? Ephesians 5:3-4.
8. What are we warned about keeping company with certain people? I Corinthians 5:9, I Corinthians 5:11, I Corinthians 15:33-34.
9. Why should we avoid evil and impure associates? I Corinthians 15:33.

Note: With these facts before us while we serve an all-wise God, we should keep the virtuous path before our eyes, and remember that good cannot come from evil.

Note: The morals of mankind were corrupt before the flood and before the destruction of Sodom.

Note: All parents should be careful about what they do in front of their children. They should also examine their children’s home life (their companions, the books and magazines they read, what they eat and drink, what they wear, and how their time is occupied). God demands parents to be godly and to train their children right. Pride, abundance of bread, and abundance of idleness contributed much to the gross immorality of Sodom and its downfall.
