Preview: This is the second part of a two-part lesson about how the Laws of God affect our lives and salvation.
Scripture Reading: I John 3:1-13, I John 3:23.
Memory Verse: I John 4:11.
1. Is it possible according to the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse for Christ to abide in us if we don’t love our fellowman?
Note: Love is not a passive emotion, it is an active decision. When we love others as God loves us, we prove it by our words and deeds.
2. How do we know that we have passed from death to life? I John 3:14-15.
3. What does this love Commandment require of us? I John 2:7-8 & I John 3:23.
4. Is it difficult for those who hate (dislike) others to even know that they are in darkness? I John 2:9-11.
Note: There are those who are not at peace with God, themselves, or their fellowman, and do not realize that their resentment, prejudice, and intolerance of others is responsible.
5. How is our love for God tested? I John 3:16-18, I John 4:20-21 & I John 5:1-2.
6. How is God’s love manifested to and through us? John 4:4 & John 4:8-11.
7. Is it enough to know this truth or must we put it into action? Romans 2:13 & James 1:21-22 & James 1:26.
8. How do you describe someone who only hears but does not obey? James 1:23-24.
9. What is the sad fate of the disobedient? Revelation 22:14-15 & Revelation 21:8.
10. Will our example and influence continue on even after we die? Revelation 14:12-13.
Note: Often we see hatred, prejudice, and a lack of love passed down from generation to generation even among those who claim to love God and keep His Commandments, but we cannot obtain eternal life without unconditional love for others.
