An Introduction to Jesus - Who Do Men Say That I Am? Part 11 of 13

Preview: This series of lessons is dedicated as an introduction to Jesus. This is the eleventh lesson in a thirteen-part series on this subject.


Pre-reading: Romans 15:2-7, Ephesians 4:4-16, I John 3:1-11.

Scripture Reading: John 10:23-39.

Memory Verse: II Timothy 2:19.

1. What can we conclude from the foregoing Scriptures of only those who depart from sin can truly know Jesus?
2. Did His own brothers really understand who He was? Why not? John 7:3-5.
3. Why were the people confused and divided concerning His identity? John 7:10-13.
Note: Wasn’t it sad that those who thought that He was a good man were afraid to say so because of the Jews? Today many people are ashamed to acknowledge Him in certain circles. Are you ashamed of the Gospel of Christ?
4. Who did His dinner host understand Him to be? Did he recognize Him? Luke 7:36-39.
5. What lesson did He teach him and his other guests? Luke 7:40-48.
6. Why did they question His ability to forgive sinners? Luke 7:49-50.
Note: When we confess and forsake our sins, ourselves included, let us not doubt that the blood of Jesus Christ makes us clean.
7. What did he say to those who worship Him without being obedient? Luke 6:46-49, Matthew 7:21.
Note: We find this true today. Millions who claim to be Christians are still trying to set their own standards of righteousness, but there is only one way, and that is still through Jesus Christ.
8. How did Jesus explain God’s righteous standards (The Commandments)? Matthew 5:17-19.
9. Why did many of His followers turn back from following Him? John 6:26, John 6:64-66.
10. What was the reaction of the twelve chosen ones? John 6:67-71.
Note: The only thing that enables anyone to follow Him faithfully is to believe without doubt that He is the Christ; the Son of the living God.
